About Us

Empowering Communities. Building the Future. Transforming The Bahamas Through Science & Technology.

Who We Are

The Bahamas Institute of STEM Innovation (BIOSI) is a national non-profit organization dedicated to bringing world-class science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education directly to underserved communities across The Bahamas. Our mission is simple and transformative: To empower every island, every home, and every young person with the tools, skills, and opportunities needed to shape a modern, resilient, and innovative Bahamas. BIOSI uses cutting-edge technology and hands-on learning to strengthen national capacity in critical areas including land surveying, agriculture, marine science, aerial and drone mapping, climate resilience, environmental monitoring, housing development, and education innovation. We believe that STEM is the foundation of economic empowerment, community resilience, and long-term national development.

What We Do

BIOSI designs and delivers real-world, community-centered STEM innovation programs based on global best practices. Our work spans multiple fields essential to the future of The Bahamas:

• Land & Geospatial Innovation Modern surveying, digital land mapping, community land projects, and support for national land reform efforts.

• Marine & Environmental Science Coastal mapping, climate adaptation training, and environmental sustainability initiatives.

• Agriculture & Food Security Introducing technology, smart farming, and youth-led innovations to strengthen local food production.

• Aerial & Drone Technology Hands-on training in UAV mapping, drone operations, and data analysis for youth and professionals.

• Housing & Community Development Pilot projects demonstrating affordable, climate-resilient housing models supported by accurate land and geospatial data.

• STEM Education & Workforce Development Summer camps, school partnerships, career pipelines, national events, and digital learning experiences.

Through these programs, BIOSI prepares the next generation of Bahamian innovators, surveyors, scientists, engineers, and leaders.

Why BIOSI Matters

The Bahamas stands at a defining moment. Climate change, rapid technological change, land challenges, and economic shifts are reshaping our islands. BIOSI provides the skills, tools, and knowledge needed for The Bahamas to thrive in this new era by:

✔ Reducing the digital and STEM education gap
✔ Building a skilled, future-ready Bahamian workforce
✔ Supporting national land reforms and modernization
✔ Strengthening community resilience across all islands
✔ Creating opportunities for youth that last a lifetime
✔ Promoting sustainable, innovation-driven development

BIOSI exists so that knowledge becomes empowerment — and empowerment becomes national progress.

Our Vision
for the
Future

We envision a Bahamas where:

Every student can access world-class STEM learning
Every island is mapped, understood, and planned with precision
Communities lead their own transformation
Innovation becomes part of everyday life
The next generation of Bahamians are creators, problem-solvers, and global leaders
Technology supports justice, equity, sustainability, and opportunity for all

BIOSI is building a future where STEM is not limited to classrooms — it is alive in our farms, our coasts, our neighborhoods, our skies, and our homes.
